When I first scroll through facebook and found out this lovely luxury boutique ” aqua luxury suite ” . I knew in my heart that this is the hotel i would want to visit when I am there in Santorini , with no hesitation i booked this hotel for my graduation trip with my boyfriend and parents , only had 5 days 4 nights here . I booked myself an executive suite with panoramic caldera & volcano sea view outdoor plunge pool and the most exclusive room in this hotel for my parents , which is the grand suite with panoramic caldera & volcano sea view outdoor plunge pool . Do note that if you are staying on the caldera view rooms , it is not 100% privacy , you will see other people on their balconies. If this is not what you’re hoping for you could choose other room type .Although privacy for some who are prudish maybe a concern but we had no regret that we chosen rooms with caldera side facing the volcano, and the view was absolutely breathtaking. The first aspect that bears mentioning is the view, the view is stupendous and is one of the few places that I have been to that the pictures hardly do justice .Watching those huge ships in the water everyday from a distance and the dark blue sea was really something else .
Aqua luxury suite located in Imerovigli , this town is between Fira and Oia, much closer to Fira , around 20-30 minute walk via stone path. It is significantly quieter than both Oia and Fira which makes it perfect for a honeymoon, if quiet is what you’re looking for , this place is just as amazing as we hoped it would be .
We were picked up by Aqua’s shuttle after arrived in airport . Check in was fast and they have someone take your luggage to the room as the stairs are very steep and difficult to navigate for the first time. The front desk receptionist is very attentive, they gave recommendations for restaurants and activities. They booked dinner reservations for us on request, including last minute reservations at the restaurants. The staff there are really friendly, and seem to know everyone by name. Every restaurant recommendation and advice about the island was spot on.
The beds were very comfortable, I actually spend most of my time in the hotel rather than exploring this beautiful island . Something we really enjoyed was each morning we had a very peaceful breakfast that was delivered to our door every morning to us on our own terrace overlooking the caldera , you could choose the time you want your breakfast to be deliver to you and there’s a lot of option to choose from the breakfast menu , you just need to tick the items you would like to have the night before at the reception and next morning at your time of choice your breakfast is served and you can enjoy it overlooking one of the best views in the world.
We rented our car from here , the price that they offered for car rental is reasonable , I always do a lot of research before renting a car and I found that from most of the reviews from this company are positive so I will give it a go and try out . They have the option to deliver your car to the hotel / address you which to pickup from . Always check the cars and take picture if you found out that there’s scratches and show it to the guy that is delivering the car to you before signing the document . Just to be safe I bought car insurance from the car agency in case if there’s any damage to the car since the insurance doesn’t cost much and some of the road there are very narrow .
I did not join any tours for this trip , therefore finding the blue dome is kind of pain in the ass , we spent around an hour or so finding it under the hot sun . Don’t get me wrong , people there are friendly and helpful but they could not recognized the iconic 3 blue dome from the picture I shown them through my phone most probably because there’s just too many blue dome that looks alike . However we found our way there after getting lost several time and asking more than 10 locals . As for St Gerasimos Christian church it was pretty easy to locate , You just have to search for ” Golden sunset cafe ” from that cafe there will be signboard to guide you the way , after you walk pass Mama Thira restaurant you will be there in no time .
For seafood lover out there , you must not miss the seafood there , the best place for sea food is in Amoudi bay . I had my lunch and dinner there for 3 days straight in Taverna Katina . That was how good and fresh the seafood was . The salad was great, huge bowl full with lots of feta , the grilled octopus leg and calamari was tender & juicy , fish soup there taste really good and you could pick your own fish too . Prices are very reasonable considering the location . You could park your car bottom of the hill and walk and walk another 5 minutes to the restaurant .
Overall , I enojyed myself too much in the hotel and missed out quite a lot of activity that I could do in Santorini , but I will definitely visit this beautiful island again .
